The story takes place in San Antonio de Areco, in the Argentine pampas. Fabio Cáceres remembers his childhood as an orphan and his youth working in the fields, alongside his godfather, Don Segundo Sombra, a lonely gaucho whom he admires and from whom he will learn to be a gaucho, following him in all his adventures. Don Segundo will be Fabio's role model.

Anna feels obliged to visit her childhood friend, Julie on the island of Møn, where Julie still lives with her mother, Sonja. The three women are taking in the sun at the beach, when clouds begin to gather.

Plot follows a real-life Colombian police dog named Sombra (Spanish for “Shadow”) who, after piling up hundreds of arrests, became the cartel’s public number one enemy. As a result, a bounty is put on her head. After the cartel’s new leader sets a trap to abduct the dog, Sombra’s once reluctant handler must risk his life and career to save his partner.

A Tejano rancher hires an oil worker (Hank Jacobs) to pick up an artifact of the ancient world which will bring him immortal life.

Argentina, 1976. With the beginning of the military dictatorship, a young police officer is accused of belonging to the ERP guerrilla group. He is tortured by his former colleagues and held as a political prisoner for two years. He survives the brutal prison conditions and is released on parole, but a few months later decides to escape the country. Denmark grants him asylum, and he lives in Copenhagen for fifteen years. When he returns, now a democratic country, he discovers that some of those who tortured him were not only still police officers but high-ranking officials.
